What are dentures?

Dentures are custom-made false teeth with an acrylic base that fits securely and comfortably over your gums.

Your dentist will assess your teeth and mouth to determine if a denture is right for you. You may require a full or partial denture depending on how many teeth you are missing and their placement.

What is the difference between full and partial dentures?

A full denture replaces a row of teeth at the top or the bottom of your mouth. Complete dentures are generally held in place with a dental adhesive.

A partial denture fills the space left by several missing teeth and is held in place by your healthy teeth.

What are the advantages of dentures?

Often having a similar form, surface and weight to natural teeth, dentures can function like natural teeth allowing you to speak and eat normally.

Are dentures easy to care for?

Your dentist will advise you on how to care for your dentures for many years of use.  You should clean your dentures after every meal. Dentures should be removed and placed in an antibacterial cleaning solution at night.
