Cosmetic dentures can improve your quality of life, enhance your appearance and boost your confidence with a natural-looking smile.

High-quality dentures can look and feel very similar to natural teeth. When you have missing teeth, dentures make eating and speaking easier and more enjoyable.  Cosmetic dentures can also improve the visual appearance of your face and smile.

What is a denture?

Cosmetic dentures are removable false teeth mounted on an acrylic base that fit comfortably and securely over your gums.

There are three main types of cosmetic dentures:

Full Dentures – replacing entire rows of upper or lower teeth

Partial Dentures – replacing missing teeth between existing healthy teeth

Implant-Supported Dentures – using dental implants that are secured to the jawbone

How long does a denture treatment take?

Depending on your individual requirements, a denture treatment can take several appointments after your initial consultation. Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth with optimal function.

Partial dentures usually take a few weeks, however full dentures take a little longer. Implants can take around six months to bond securely with the jawbone before implant retained dentures can be fitted.

How long does it take to get used to dentures?

A denture can feel strange at first and may take several weeks to get used to. Eating and speaking with dentures can take a little practice while your cheek and tongue muscles adapt.

How should I care for my dentures?

  • Always handle dentures carefully and avoid dropping them.
  • When you are not wearing your dentures, place them in a soaking solution so they do not dry out.
  • Brush your dentures every day to remove food deposits and plaque build-up.
  • Brush your gums, tongue and palate with a soft-bristled brush every morning before putting in your dentures.

How long do dentures last?

Dentures are generally long-lasting with regular dental regime.

Over time your mouth can change, and dentures may also suffer wear and tear.  We recommend coming in for a check-up once a year.

If you wear an old denture that is uncomfortable, making eating and speaking difficult, or if your dentures break, chip, crack or become loose, make an appointment at the practice.

A modern cosmetic denture can look like natural teeth for a confident and radiant smile.
